A fanlisting, as the more astute of you have probably already realized, is just that: a listing of fans of a particular subject. This allows fans of the subject (i.e. Rydia) to find one another - feel free to stalk the member list to see what I mean. You can also put a button on your site (if you have one), so your visitors can see that you're a fan!

TheFanlistings.org is the most popular fanlisting database, listing tens of thousands of fanlistings on a variety of subject matter. And I think they pretty much popularized the concept, too.
