Fonts used in this layout include Garamond 3, Saraband Initials, and SheerGrace, as well as Verdana and Georgia for body text. It was coded in TextMate and designed in Adobe Photoshop CS. Brushes are from Painted-Passion. The fanlisting section of the site is powered by Enthusiast 3.

"Fairytale"

I spent a ridiculous amount of energy trying to come up with a name for this site. To start with I wanted a name that would embody the childlike quality that Rydia has - even after she grows up, she still retains a sort of innocence that I think is very integral to her character. At the same time, and no less important, I wanted to describe the sort of otherworldly, almost inhuman quality that she has, inherent in her nature as a summoner.

I had a lot of trouble reconciling the two, as they don't really go together, until I thought of Fairytale. On the one hand, I think it does have a childlike quality, since fairy tales are something that are generally thought of as being "for children". And the subject of "fairies", I think, nicely ties in to Rydia's fantastical nature.

And yeah, if you don't buy that, I guess Final Fantasy games are sort of like fairy tales in their own right, anyway.
